New use for spare change!

10 Jul

This week I’ve found a new use for some of our spare change. You may remember me talking about our spare change jar in this post. Well last week I was short on cash when I was getting ready to go to the farmers market so I decided to see what I could find in our change jar. Four dollars in quarters and I was all set for the farmers market! So this week, I figured I would get myself prepared and I poured out our change jar and took just the quarters and put them in a zip lock bag. I’m going to leave this in my car as my farmers market money! All the rest of the change went back into the jar for other things in the future but a handful of quarters and I’m all set for some fresh produce!

See a penny, pick it up. All day long, you’ll have good luck

Do you believe this saying? I do, only because I get sheer joy out of finding pennies (and other change) on the street, in my car, in the laundry, anywhere really! I especially like to find pennies though. I’m not quite sure why, but it’s something I’ve always done and enjoyed. =) We have a container in our kitchen where all our spare change goes and once it’s full we take it to the change machine at Wal-Mart to see how much we’ve “made”.  (said container below)

It’s something fun that the hubs and I like to do and we always guess how much is in there. We’re usually wrong, but it’s fun none the less. We haven’t spent our change money on anything too fabulous (yet), but I’ve got some ideas of what I’d like to save it for! Something as small as a date night or maybe our next family vacation are a few that come to mind… Usually we spend our “earnings” on whatever needs to be purchased at the time – groceries, something for the house, whatever it may be. These days since we have little man (who’s growing like a weed, I might add) a dinner out is a rare occurrence, but we still save up our change for fun things in the future.
