Tuesday Tips & Tricks: Professional photographer or do it yourself?

26 Jul

What’s your preference when taking photos for important events? Do you like to take photos yourself, have a friend do it for you, or maybe hire a professional to take the pictures? I’m big on photos (you should see my personal/family blog!) and I take them sporadically throughout the day, while we’re out and about, and almost for any occasion. But when it comes to a professional photographer, I’m far from it! I love to capture every day moments of my son, especially when hubby has to work out of town and for our family who doesn’t live in the same state as us.

And a few times I’ve hired a professional to really capture moments that I can hang on my wall. That being said, how do you get the most for your money when it comes to photography? For our wedding we had a professional photographer and the pictures were amazing, but they also cost a small fortune. I was also lucky enough to have a friend with a photography background who took my maternity (and baby) photos last year. (photo below) You can also see her work here, here, and here! Her site is amazing and if you are looking for fabulous scenes to hang in your house, you need to see these!

So my tip for today is to use your resources when it comes to photography. Whether it’s getting good lighting outside and snapping some photos yourself, or enlisting the help of friends who’ve got skills. And then of course seeing what deals you can find online and in portrait studios. For my son’s 6 month photos, I went to Sears and they did a really great job!
Kodak Gallery  I’ve used Kodak Gallery for as long as I can remember, so if you’re looking for a new site to upload/share/purchase photos from, I’d highly recommend them. Click the image for details.

Not to mention they have this nice deal going on right now where if you join today you’ll get a free poster collage. It’s free to join so why not check it out?
