10 Ways to save $$ at the grocery store – GOOD tips!

20 Jul

I came across this great list of tips at Post On A Budget and I wanted to share it with you!

1. Make a list and stick to it!
2. Do your research- match what is on  sale to what you need and/or may have coupons or additional savings for.
3.  Do your research- match price per unit of items you normally stock to similar or  same items in other stores or even in the same store.
4. Shop in season.  Whether it is for produce or sale season.
5. Shop the perimeter of the store  as much as possible. This is where the items you most likely need will be  located.
6. Don’t be afraid to lose your brand loyalty for what is on sale  or a store brand.
7. Explore the different savings alternatives available to  you at your store and be sure to use these when you compare the available stores  in your area.
8. Know what you need and should stock up. This included items  such as soup and non-perishables that you know will get used.
9. Keep track  of your inventory and what you have on hand. This is key to knowing how to play  the stockpiling strategy.
10. Keep an eye on items while they are being rung  up. Do not be afraid to speak up or question items that you feel are rung up  wrong. Doing this before your purchases get totaled can make error corrections  easier to take care of.

Thanks Posh On A Budget for these handy grocery store tips!
